Category Manager- Logistics

Objective: Improve service levels and optimize efficiency of the operations, to reduce supply chain costs and to establish alignment between logistics, sales/marketing, and operations.
The Category Manager-Logistics will act as the linking pink between the company and the plants.
- Define, execute sourcing strategies for the categories of barges, rail, road, and truck in close-co-operation with business.- MUST HAVE OCEAN FREIGHT EXPERIENCE IN HIGH VOLUME!!
- Safeguarding supply market knowledge, market dynamics, and development.
- Sourcing and contracting of key logistic suppliers in close co-operation with the Contract Managers.
- Alignment of sales/marketing and logistics department.
Responsibility :
- Supporting business strategy for logistics categories has to be defined and exhausted
- Identify integral risks
- Strategy implementation: implement appropriate supply arrangements and gain commitment and ensure alignment.
- Supplier Selection: search for potential suppliers and manage the process.
- Contract Negotiations: Negotiating, contracting and implementing agreements. Average annual spend of $300-$500M in spend w/ one direct report.
Supplier Partnerships:
- Manager supplier relations on a strategic level
- Establish sustainable partnerships
Cost Reduction:
- Develop and implement long term contracts
- Review purchase price variance; initiate cost reduction activities.
- Directly responsible for total negotiation result of the logistic category
Continuous Improvement:
- Challenge and participate in procurement and logistic initiatives
- Participate in new projects
- Review performance data relating to effectiveness and efficiency
- Support uninterrupted order processing
- Proactively eliminate possible capacity bottleneck by means of Transport Requirements Planning for the long and mid-term
Reporting and Analysis:
- Review purchase price variance and forecast changes in key category cost drivers
- Tracking and tracing contracted savings
- Report on supplier and supply market developments, document sourcing/logistic strategies, spend data and risk assessment
- Benchmark logistic services against key result areas
Job Requirement:
- Business or Logistics degree at Bachelor Degree
- Procurement experience at a senior level in an international environment
- Knowledge of supplier quality assurance
- At least 5-8 years relevant work experience in a chemical or similar industry
- Experience in working effectively within a team-based environment
