District Commercial Manager - Chemicals - Pricing - Negotiations - Chicago

Our client, a global leader in chemical distribution is seeking a Commercial Manager to assist in the growth strategy of their industrial specialties business for the Midwest District region.  This highly visible and fast-paced leadership role will be responsible for supporting the sales team and is accountable for sales interface decision-making between suppliers, operations and customer service.  Will support sales management by improving profitability through price and cost management as well as management of customer capital investments.  This is an excellent opportunity for potential growth into senior level position or general management.

Responsibilities:
  • Review new business opportunities that need interface between operations and regulatory.
  • Develops pricing for new product and service opportunities.
  • Cost Management - manage cost support request with suppliers and customer service.
  • Negotiate pricing with suppliers, identify poor performing products, drives activity to work on cost reduction pricing.
  • Review product mix, profitability to make recommendations to implement strategy.
  • Sales and Operations Planning
  • Contract proposal - rebate contracts, new and ongoing business contracts
  • Asset Management - make recommendations based on turn, profitability and new opportunity.
  • Credit Management - managing terms/extensions, increasing lines, bid preparation.
Requirements:
  • BS/BA required - Science or Business, MBA highly desirable.
  • 10+ years experience in chemical industry, knowledge of chemical distribution and/or former sales experience a plus.
  • Experienced supplier support and high level of decision-making ability balancing customer needs and company objectives.
  • Highly skilled in Pricing and Negotiations with strong analytical skills.
  • Able to work in fast-paced environment.
  • Strong PC skills including: Excel, Outlook, CRM, UVX, Information Warehouse, etc.
