Our client, a multi-national manufacturer of specialty chemicals and performance materials, is seeking an aggressive Industrial Senior Sales Manager for their specialty chemical division. The Senior Sales Manager will manage the Northeast sales territory for specialty chemicals by identifying and creating new business opportunities as well as managing existing accounts. The successful candidate will be responsible for generating and achieving all sales and profit metrics. The Senior Sales Manager candidate will be an industrial sales professional experienced in handling high volume and complex accounts.
This position will be home office based in a Northeast US city such as Baltimore, Philadelphia, New York or Boston.
Manages sales territory and sells company products, generating target levels of revenue, volume, margins, and days outstanding from customer base.
Develops volume and revenue forecasts, sales plans, and strategies for achieving desired results.
Effectively communicates and negotiates complex sales contracts with customers.
Educates customers on new products and product enhancements; articulates and presents product features and benefits.
Identifies new market opportunities as well as attractive target accounts; seeks out competitive information.
Establishes and maintains processes that ensure accurate budget and forecast information for the business.
Leads efforts to establish levels of excellence in sales, distributor management and customer service.
Provides leadership that assists management in setting strategic initiatives and programs to achieve corporate strategies.
May provide technical guidance and leadership to other representatives in the area.
Minimum 10 + years in an industrial sales role, selling complex products and components of products.
Chemical industry sales experience highly preferred.
Bachelor’s Degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or related discipline. MBA preferred.
Experience managing pricing to maximize profitability.
The ability to establish and maintain appropriate relationships with direct customers and distributors.
The ability to utilize knowledge of product capability to recognize opportunities where the company can provide solutions to customers’ needs.
The ability to utilize a CRM system.
Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
Polished, professional demeanor with the ability to effectively interface at senior levels both internally and externally.
